Calliope SS – New Admin and GLA Block

The Department of Education and Training engaged Honeywill Consulting to project manage the design and construction of new Administration and 6 GLA Classroom Block with an undercroft and associated spaces. The project included the demolition of the existing principal residence, removal of a two space modular building and the construction of a 38 space car park behind the school hall.

Honeywill Consulting worked with the design team and the school to identify the Schools core requirements and provide comfortable and inviting spaces with a view to enhancing student engagement without compromising DET’s requirement for delivering durable and low-maintenance facilities.

This project had numerous challenges in terms of asbestos removal, relocation of numerous site services, decanting of staff into temporary facilities, delay due to weather and contractor management. The project was delivered behind schedule but the final result was within budget and provides a valuable asset for the school.
